About Grandma's Dolls

Joan's main interest is in dolls sold in Australia since the 1940s until the present day and dolls from this period form the basis of her collection, although there are many earlier dolls in the collection.

The collection comprises porcelains, compositions, celluloids (Joan's favourites), hard plastics, vinyls, Kaders, and others.

Girls of all ages will just love to see Grandma's extensive collection.

This Pedigree 22 inch is a fine example of the hard plastic Pedigree dolls which were made in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the UK and were widely sold in Australia during the 1940s and 1950s. These Pedigree Dolls are arguably the best known dolls of that period and the envy of every little girl during that era.

Joan's Celluloid was made in England by the Palitoy Company during the 1940s. This is typical of the dolls available for sale in Australia during the post WW2 era.

The Trio walking doll (Joan's own doll) with composition head and limbs, and cloth body. These dolls were made by the Wharrie family of Stawell, Victoria, during the early 1940s.
