| Coo-ee Festival - October long weekend |
| Commemorates the Coo-ee March when, in 1915, 35 men from the Gilgandra district set off to march to Sydney to enlist in the army. At each town along their journey, the men cried "Coo-ee", which is the bushman's call for help, to encourage others to join them. By the time they reached Sydney, the numbers had swelled to 263 recruits. The festival weekend includes a bush poetry evening, main street busking, Saturday street parade, the NSW Coo-ee Calling Championships, Rotary Markets, live entertainment, and much more. |
